Q: How is the blade held in place?
A 1" diameter rare-earth magnet holds the 2" wide A2 blade against the body. A steel pin molded into the ABS body takes the thrust forces during cutting, so the blade does not shift under load.

A 1" diameter rare-earth magnet holds the 2" wide A2 blade against the body. A steel pin molded into the ABS body takes the thrust forces during cutting, so the blade does not shift under load.
The blade is designed to be flipped inward for storage. In that position the cutting edge is protected inside the body, so you can carry the plane loose in a tool pouch, pocket or toolbox without a cover.
It handles glue lines, laminate edges, and plugs – anything projecting slightly above the surrounding surface. It also works for cleaning out inside corners such as hinge gains, tenons and half-laps.
The included blade is A2 tool steel, ground to a 25° bevel angle.
