This plane is intended for shooting and general-purpose work
The standard block plane has a 20° bed angle and sits 1/8" taller than the low-angle version. The higher angle works better for general across-grain smoothing on straight-grained wood. The low-angle version is better for end grain.
Yes, the tall side wings are specifically designed for shooting — they register against the shooting board fence when the plane is used on its side, keeping it square to the work
The plane is available with an A2, O1 or PM-V11 tool steel blade.
