Veritas Medium Router Plane

Yes, the medium router plane accepts the full range of narrow single-piece blades available for the Veritas large router plane — five metric sizes and five Imperial sizes. It is not compatible with the inlay cutter head for the large router plane.

With the stainless-steel depth-stop collar installed, the plane cuts up to 1" deep. Without the depth stop, cuts up to 1 3/4" deep are possible.

The wave washer under the blade-clamping knob creates light resistance that holds the blade in position as the knob is loosened, allowing controlled, incremental depth adjustments without the blade dropping suddenly to the floor of the recess.

Yes, the blade can be repositioned outboard — extending past the body — for bullnose applications, allowing the plane to work right up to a shoulder or stopped dado.

The medium is 3 1/2" wide by 3" deep and weighs about 13 oz, making it more manageable on narrow stock and in confined areas. It accepts the same blade range as the large plane but is not compatible with the inlay cutter head or the optional fence designed for the large plane.

It is available with or without a 1/4" wide blade. The blade-only version lets you add blades from the existing large router plane blade range without purchasing a duplicate.
