Rare-earth magnets embedded in the anodized aluminum guide, covered with low-friction UHMW plastic, keep the saw perfectly aligned as you cut.
The clamp works with material from 1/4" to 1" thick.
Yes, any backless saw with about 0.005" of tooth set will work, though the optional Veritas dovetail saw is designed specifically for the guides.
