Super-Hard Milled Scrapers

For fine work, no. The edges are milled to a sharp, square 90° at the factory and are ready to use immediately. For heavier stock removal or if a hook is desired, you would burnish the milled edge – but no filing or stoning is required first.

0.4mm and 0.6mm are 2" × 6" and suited for fine finishing work. 0.8mm and 1mm are 2 3/8" × 6" and intended for heavier stock removal; the 1mm thickness is suitable for paint removal.

Standard cabinet scrapers are typically sheared from spring steel hardened to Rc38-42. These scrapers are hardened to Rc48-52, giving a harder edge that holds its shape longer under repeated use before needing to be reburnished.

The milled square edge serves as a reference for resharpening. When a burnished hook has been used down, the edge is refiled and stoned back to the same square, sharp condition as when it left the factory – the milled edge on each fresh scraper shows what that target condition looks like.
