Veritas Dowelling Jig

Yes. This is one of the key advantages of the Veritas Dowelling Jig. By setting the micrometer heads for a constant setback from the reference face rather than the center line, you can join boards of different thicknesses with one side perfectly flush, avoiding the planing and scraping that would otherwise be needed to level the assembled panel.

The micrometer heads can be set from 1/4" to 1/2" from the center line, covering work from 1/2" to 1" thick. The clamp heads grip work as small as 1/2" × 1 3/8".

The jig includes three hardened steel bushings: 1/4", 8mm (5/16") and 3/8". Additional sizes are available separately if you need to drill for other dowel diameters.

A tapered pin included with the jig is placed in the previously drilled hole to register the jig's position for the next hole. This lets you drill a series of accurately spaced dowel holes along a board edge without remeasuring or relaying marks for each hole.

All machined parts are anodized aluminum. The register pins and clamping fittings are solid turned brass. The movable bushing carrier holds the hardened steel drilling bushings.
