Most stock bench grinder tool rests are difficult to set solidly and square. The Veritas Grinder Tool Rest mounts to the bench rather than the grinder, giving a rigid, vibration-resistant platform that locks precisely at the angle you set and stays there through the sharpening session.

It is designed for use with 6" or 8" utility bench grinders and many belt sanders and grinders. The 4" wide table straddles wheels up to 1" wide, and the slotted arms provide the height adjustment needed to align the rest with different wheel sizes.

Yes, the included angle-setting gauge has markings at 20°, 25°, 30° and 35° – the most common bevel angles for chisels and plane blades. Set the table to the marked position and the rest holds the angle consistently throughout the grinding session.
