Veritas Felt Wheel for Carving Tools

It is designed for honing the inside of carving gouges and parting tools – surfaces that are difficult to reach with a flat honing wheel or slip stone. The profiled face conforms to the inner curve of a gouge, allowing you to hone the inside bevel accurately at the grinder.

Extra-hard construction allows the wheel to hold its profiled shape under the pressure of repeated honing. A softer wheel would gradually deform under use, losing the geometry needed to hone gouge interiors consistently.

Yes, the flat side of the wheel can be used for out-cannel honing of gouges and for honing flat blades of all types. The three working surfaces – profiled face, flat side and center hollow – give the wheel versatility across a range of carving tool profiles.

The wheel is bored for a 5/8" arbor, with a 1/2" bushing included for motors with a smaller arbor diameter. Maximum speed is 3600 rpm.
