Veritas Dado Shims

Tape, paper and brass sheet require constant measuring and fiddling, and usually mean pulling the entire dado set off the arbor to restack. These slotted shims slide onto the arbor between the blades with tweezers, so you never have to pull the stack apart – just add or remove shims until the dado width is correct.

The set includes 14 shims: four at 0.020", four at 0.010", two at 0.005" and four at 0.002". The different thicknesses can be combined to achieve a wide range of fine dado width adjustments.

The shims are designed for a 5/8" arbor, which is the standard size for most North American table saws.

Yes. They are made from accurately thicknessed plastic that is oil and grease resistant and will withstand the high torques generated by a dado set running at normal table saw speeds. They will not swell or distort from heat or lubricant exposure.

Each shim has a slot that allows it to be slid sideways onto the arbor shaft between the blades using tweezers. This means the dado width can be adjusted without removing and reassembling the stack.
